Welcome to Gucci, Godiva, and God

In today's society, our religious beliefs and practices can often be as individual as our fingerprints. Some people believe that you can't be a Christian woman, while wearing the latest Manolo Blaniks and carrying the newest Gucci Bag. Others may say that you could never be a "real" Christian if your IPod plays Shekinah Glory and Fred Hammond, with a little Mary J and Jay-Z. Gucci, Godiva, and God exists to bring together 21st-Century Christian women who live life to the fullest, while working each day to develop a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. We don't always say the right thing, we have our good days and bad, and sometimes we even ask God why...but everyday we wake up with the resolve and determination to be the dynamic women that God has called each of us to be. Welcome to Gucci, Godiva, and God! Visit us daily for "Morning Glory", as well as to participate in our weekly discussion on everything from "God and Sex" to "The Best Way to Interact with UnSaved Friends".

Fabulous Gowns to Honor Oscar

Below check out some of the dresses we love during the Academy Awards. Being the fab Gucci, Godiva, and God-chicks that you are, we're sure there will be some dresses you'll also love, while others you'll ask use to adjust our Chanel glasses and re-evaluate. Whether you love or hate our picks, we can all agree, the red carpet proved to be chic and sophisticated. What do you think?
Kate Winslet was definitely one of our favs. We love the mint green color. Had it been the typical white for Grecian-styled gowns, it wouldn't have looked as fabulous.

Reese looked so beautiful. The cut on this gown was so gorgeous. It doesn't photograph 1/2 as well as it looked live. Check out the "Fashion Police" to see how it actually moved. Her hair was also on point.

The detailing on Rachel Weisz's gown was gorgeous. Definitely old-Hollywood.

Here is where we start to disagree. I can't say I love this gown. It is definitely couture, but it's a bit too much going on for me. Mirrors, space cadet breast plate..nah. But my fellow Gucci, Godiva, and God-chicks love it...so, I got out voted. We all like Eddie's tux. The navy is definitely hot.

None of us actually knows who she is, they said Laura-somebody, but I really liked this gown. There was really no other yellow on the carpet (expect on our missed-list) so, I thought she really stood out. I love the cut and the bodice is very figure-friendly.

This one is another controversial look and I'm sure Mr and Ms. Jay are going to be arguing about this on "E!" tomorrow. I like this gown. The detailing on the bodice is so beautiful. You can't wear this dress anywhere else but the to see your man Oscar; he's the only one who'd appreciate it. Loves it...

Moving on! We expect that everyone will disagree, but we all love this gown. I have to admit, when I first saw it, it was a profile shot of Nicole Kidman. But when I saw it full on, I had to give it to her... she looked fabulous. I'm not always a huge fan of hers, but she looks fantastic here. She's definitely on my fashion-watch list.

You better make your man stay sober. As Juanita Bynum says, keep it hot, baby. This red is gown is truly a show-stopper.

Emily Blunt (Devil Wears Prada) is wearing Calvin Klein. I really love this color. The dress is quite simple, but the bold color is so unexpected that we had to include it.

Not So Fabulous Gowns

Now it's time to look at some ladies that we love, but who we think missed the fashion mark. Sometimes it's not JUST the thought that counts. We're keeping them & their stylist on our prayer list. Now we all know that Mrs. Jennifer is a fab-chick, but she looks about 8-10 years older in this get-up. Who told here to wear this. Just because you aren't presented or nominated doesn't mean you can just put on away thing. The chandelier strands aren't getting it.Full length view doesn't help
This is by far, the worst outfit of the night. Kristen Dunst in Chanel. I know she loves vintage gowns, but this gown isn't only ugly, it is also unflattering on her. Like Jenny, it also makes her look way too old.

Forest Whittaker's beautiful wife, Keisha, looks...humm...ridiculous. The color is nice, but the kid's crayola flowers are not hot. We're not going to write you off, cause we love your spirit, but let this be a warning. =-)

None of us can specifically say what we don't like about Beyonce's Armani gown. It's just too...and then it's not right in the.... Forget it, it's just not fabulous. Her hair looks better than it did at the Golden Globes, but if you remember that, this isn't much of a complement. The weave is a fantastic color, but a bit too thick up top.

Our favorite Devil Wears Prada girl, Anne Hathaway, is not fly in this B&W number. From the big bow (wrong) to the lace (double wrong), we have to disagree with this choice. Never thought we'd say that, but it's true, Anne isn't on our "Fab List". We'll keep praying though.

Her figure is fierce, but that's about it. Maybe in another color it might have worked, but the material in white looks heavy, like a table cloth

Oh ANIKA, SAY IT AIN'T SO!!

What do you have on boo? You're definitely a Gucci, Godiva, and God-Chick so we say this with Godly love...Silver Sequin = 1994 Homecoming Queen. The hair and make-up is fabulous though.

.

Our Academy Awards Fashion Honorable Mention Goes TO....

We really hate to say it, but our fellow Gucci, Godiva, and God-Chick sorta missed it on this. The jacket is so unnecessary and makes us fear that she feels the need to cover up. You're fabulous doll, you better take that damn thing off.
We're happy to report it was just a temporary mishap. See her gorgeous gown below from the press room.

Separately, who thought her girls were going to fall right on the floor, during her performance? I was definitely afraid.

Speak it, until you Believe it!

Yesterday in Church I almost missed something really good. I woke up tired and lethargic and really wasn't in the mood to be around a bunch of Church folk. Recently, I have been praying for a new job and although I have been on a few interviews, nothing has materialized...and it's been about 6 months. When I woke up, the first thing that I thought of was "tomorrow I have to go to a job I'm really starting to hate".

Then when I was getting dressed for Service, I saw the pair of jeans that I tried to get in the night before, but couldn't button. Way to kick me when I'm down God =-). Once I got to Service, I sat in the back and tried to get my mind focused on God. I'd love to say that my spirit was lifted, God moved immediately, and I got a job offer from the person sitting on the pew next to me. Instead, my mind wondered throughout the entire Service; from how cute TI looked at the Grammy Awards (I know... all wrong up in the Church house; but yawl know he looked cute) to what I was going to order from the Chinese restaurant around the corner from my apartment.

As Service was about to end and I was about to sneak out, the Pastor began speaking again. I knew I should have left after I went up to the offering table, but now I was stuck. We have some pretty mean ushers and I didn't want to have to lie to get out, so I just sat back down and sulked.

The Pastor started by saying, "I know the hour is late, but there is one more thing that needs to be said before we dismiss". Translation - 'I know yawl ready to leave, but get over it'. Anyway, she continued, "I know that you've heard people say 'if you don't believe you won't receive', but someone in here needs to know how to get themselves to that place of "belief".

Now you all know I forgot all about my egg rolls for a second, because after 6 months, I definitely was having a hard time with the belief part myself. She continued to explain that God understands that there are things that we don't understand. His Word even says that "His ways are far beyond our ways". So although we might conceptually understand that God will bless us, far too often the blessing will not come in the timing that we expect and disappointment can easily sets in.

So what do we do. We Speak it, until we Believe it. We have to repeat God's promises regarding our circumstances until we convince ourselves. We must remember His promises, even in the midst of our own doubt.

After Service, I recalled when a good friend told me about the time when he was trying to pass the bar exam. He had failed the first time and was really down during the entire time he was preparing to take the exam again. One of the Minsters at his Church told him to say, "I'm a Lawyer" and repeat it each day, but especially when he was doubting himself. Today he is a lawyer and one day soon, I'll get my new job. God says that He is no respect of person's and if He can bless one, He can and will surely bless me as well.

Be encouraged too, Gucci, Godiva, and God-chicks. You're going to receive every gift and blessing that God has for you and we're looking forward to sharing in your joy.
